The laid-back beachside suburb of Budgewoi is a water lover’s paradise. Locals love to keep it to themselves, and who can blame them, when they have long stretches of waterfront foreshore, the emerald blue ocean, and plentiful green space on their doorstep.

Budgewoi is an Aboriginal word meaning "Meeting of Two Waters". Nestled between Budgewoi Lake, Lake Munmorah and the Pacific Ocean it is easy to see why Budgewoi is such a tranquil location where locals never want to leave.
Still a relatively quiet and coastal town, it’s in this corner of the Central Coast that locals lead active lifestyles by the water whilst being spoilt with having everything they could need on their doorstep.

People


Budgewoi has a wonderfully quaint population of just over 3,000 residents.

Neighbours are warm and welcoming and there’s a strong sense of community. Locals are made up of a lively mix of young and maturing families, retired couples and elderly singles who have sought out a slower paced lifestyle.

> When the sun is out, Budgewoi really comes into its own – many of the foreshore walks are a hive of activity with cyclists and runners, parks are brimming with picnickers, and the water is a playground for kayakers, boaties, paddleboarders and fishermen.
> Budgewoi Beach is the perfect location for those long morning or afternoon walks. Looking south will provide stunning views of Norah Head Lighthouse and northeast views of Bird Island.
> Dogs will love Budgewoi Beach too; the dog off-leash area runs from Budgewoi Beach Southern Car Park to Ocean Street.
> To the north, the unpopulated Budgewoi Peninsula is home to the Munmorah State Conservation Area. The area's coastal setting and panoramic views, with perched sand dunes, diverse vegetation, protected species, and with opportunities for nature based recreation, educational and scientific study, were cited as reasons for the reserve's creation.
