Blacktown

Lifestyle

Be part of a vibrant, bustling community in the geographic heart of Greater Sydney growing at such a fast pace that it’s leading NSW in population, recreational services and employment trends.

Blacktown is a suburb of Blacktown City in Western Sydney which is booming in just about every aspect. Just 35 km from the Sydney CBD, Blacktown today is a far cry from its origins as a rural hinterland and farming community – it is well-connected and self-contained offering the lifestyle, educational and employment opportunities anyone would seek.

Many families choose to live here because of the more affordable lifestyle and the convenience of getting to work in the city by public transport. Proximity to Parramatta, Sydney’s second biggest city, is also a drawcard, as is the Norwest
Business Park in Bella Vista.

Blacktown is a multicultural hub; the City is home to 180 nationalities! The rich tapestry of cultures is a lasting legacy to the area. People here love their suburb – there are lovingly restored historic buildings, beautiful
reserves, and a host of cultural, sporting and entertainment facilities.

People

There are over 40,000 residents in Blacktown making it the largest of any suburb or township in NSW and one of the largest in the country.

Compared to Greater Sydney there’s a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years). Median age is 33 years. There are also more families with children here than in other Sydney suburbs.

Blacktown is a culturally and linguistically diverse community. The Philippines, India, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Fiji
are the top five countries of birth for residents. This makes for a lively, year-round events calendar crammed with festivals that celebrate cultural diversity.

Homes

Blacktown is a highly active market, and the area is one of the most popular in NSW for first-home buyers. Many are attracted by the prospect of buying an older house on a bigger block that they could renovate or knock down and rebuild.

Bursting at the seams in your current home? Five bedroom family homes are popular here. About 70% of homes are freestanding. You can easily find a good property that is close to schools, childcare, transport and shopping all within 1-2 kms.
