Randwick Real Estate Snapshot

SUBURB: Randwick

Randwick is one of Australia’s oldest municipalities, occupying a strategic high position on the eastern side of Sydney.

It is a mixture of fine old houses, smaller villas, 1960s unit blocks, recent expensive apartment developments, interesting retail precincts and extensive parks and sporting facilities.

It is also home to students and staff from the NSW University and Prince of Wales and Royal Women’s Hospitals.

In the main however, well-established professional and business families make up Randwick’s traditional population.

Within a kilometre of Coogee and Clovelly beaches, Randwick is the famed home of the Royal Randwick Racecourse. The suburb also offers Centennial and Queens Parks, as well as a new growth of trendy eating places, galleries and fashion outlets.

The University of NSW and Prince of Wales and Royal Women’s Hospitals are in the heart of Randwick.

Randwick is also within a kilometre of Moore Park, Sydney Cricket Ground and Sydney Football Stadium, as well as Coogee Oval.

Some of the other local attractions are Ritz Theatre, Coogee beach, Coogee Bay Hotel, The Palace, Randwick Royal Village Shopping Centre, Royal Randwick Race course, Nursing and Medical Museum Randwick, Wylies Baths, Centennial Park.

The Belmore Road-Avoca Street retail strip is busy, with Royal Randwick Shopping Centre and Coles Shopping Centre improving their facilities recently.

In its retail precinct, Fox Studios has large ""flagship"" retail stores.

Coogee is just minutes away and has become one of Sydney’s smartest eating out and beach scenes in recent years, while The Spot at the Perouse Road-St Pauls Road junction in Randwick has become a fashionable restaurant, cafe, cinema and gallery precinct in the past two years.

Popular late night and live entertainment venues in the area include the Randwick Labor Club, Randwick Rugby Union Club at Coogee, Coogee RSL, Coogee Bay Hotel, the Royal and Coach and Horses Hotels.
